Plan Outline

Since I can no longer build a school garden I am writing a School Garden and Club Planning Guide. The plan will include everything someone would need to know in order to build the garden, organize the club, and keep it going for years of fun learning. I hope this document will also serve as a proposal to secure funding.

A new plan

My fundraiser did not work out as planned, so I will have to do something different. I am going to write a guide for anybody that's interested in making a school garden and garden club in the future. I will include a budget, a list of tools and supplies needed, potential funding sources and ideas, and what plants would work best. I will also come up with a proposed schedule and organization for a garden club. The plan will also include a list of online resources and recommendations.

Mr. Heisel

I sent an email to our school's announcements coordinator, Mr.Heisel, about my fundraiser. I asked if he could say something about my project. I am waiting for his response. Hopefully I can build this garden by the end of the school year.

Ice Cream!

I know I've talked about my fundraiser a lot, but that's only because it's really important. At school we had a hat day for some reason and almost nobody wore a hat, so I had to find a new way to raise money. Two of my friends helped me out with that. Our new idea inspires competition among classes. The class that raises the most money will receive an ice cream party during their next discovery (reading/catch up time).

Missy

This week I went to visit our friend Missy. I brought my list of supplies to show her. Missy helped me narrow it down to only the things I really need. She also explained that I was growing cold weather plants too late, and warm weather plants too early. Missy said it would be a much better idea to buy already sprouted plants after mothers day. That means I will need funding, so an announcement will be placed in the hixon show about the needs for my project. I will need to have the garden built by May ninth at the latest. If I want the garden built will need to have my club set up by April 20th at the latest. Hixon students if you're interested in joining, let me know by simply walking up to me. -fiona

Ferrets

This week disaster struck. My ferrets (they're partners in crime) found some way under my plant dome and dug up all of my plants. Due to this trauma, all of my plants are dead or dying.

Roadblocks

I had a very very hard time contacting principal about funding my 20% time garden project. I went down to the office to talk with her she wasn't there so her secretary said she would call me down the next morning. I was never called down. I asked both of my core class teachers to call or e-mail. I got no response. I eventually talked to her in the hall. She directed me to another teacher. It's really frustrating that after so much effort all she told me to do was talk to someone else. Now I have to get in touch with him too.
